19th and 20th of September
Come inside the gate of this beautiful Hills garden, with plenty of interesting features to keep you exploring a little further.
It has has many winding paths covering over an acre of different levels and includes many species of plants.
(If the weather is wet, the steep slopes can get slippery but worth navigating to get to the veggie patch and native garden).
Over the years Brian and Linda have planted over 100 species with the emphasis on local survivors and no water consuming lawns.
The area around the house is planted with exotics.
Down by the winter creek there are two old cottages built by the previous owner surrounded by murraya, hellebores, lilacs, camellia and climbing roses.
Up the hill from the house is a small veggie garden with wicking beds then further along the escarpment there are netted and open areas of fruit trees which include apricot, grapefruit, quince, white fig and a papaya.
An almost tropical area has been created by the flowing creek planted with cordelyne, brilliantasia, brugmansia and a huge philodendron among others. The beautiful Prunus versicolor with red, pink and white flowers simultaneously is truly stunning. There are numerous sitting areas and decks where you can relax and enjoy this wonderful garden.
This is a garden to be used and enjoyed – it is informal, meandering, a place you can lose yourself in.
